Occasionally we will have some special guests to help make this event even more interesting and special, so come on down on Opening Day and meet the gang.
(Please refer to the ATC Newsletter for actual date and time of event).
Spring Lessons
The May-June Spring Beginner/new Intermediate lessons are one of the Club’s most popular programs for kids. First time junior players are especially welcome, as they will be taught the basic skills of the sport. More experienced players, but basically still beginners, also benefit from this program as the class is divided into skill levels and taught accordingly by friendly certified instructors. This program is a perquisite for the ATAK program.
(Please refer to the Junior Newsletter and schedule for actual dates and time).
Summer Lessons
Beginner/new Intermediate lessons running in the summer months of July & August. Like the Spring session, these lessons are geared for all kids of varies skill levels. First time junior players are especially welcome, as they will be taught the basic skills of the sport. More experienced players, but basically still beginners, also benefit from this program as the class is divided into skill levels and taught accordingly by friendly certified instructors.
(Please refer to the Junior Newsletter and schedule for actual dates and time).
STF Junior Teams
Each year the Agincourt Tennis Club enters several boys and girls teams in the junior STF league, where junior teams from surrounding clubs compete for the Scarborough championship trophy. Singles and double matches in varies age categories are played once a week at varies clubs.
Our girl's team is currently the Champions for 2002 thru to 2009 (8 years straight), while our boy's team were the champions in 2002. Each year the competition gets tougher so we are always looking to add a few new good players to our teams. If you have a competitive spirit and wish to join a team, please let us know. League play starts in early May.
(For more info, please refer to the Junior Newsletter and schedule, or call the club coach or Junior Co-Ordinator Executive).
ATAK (Aginocurt Tennis Academy for Kids)
The Agincourt Tennis Club is known for its ATAK program. It features advance training for experienced players geared to get them tournament ready through intense footwork and stroke drills, routines, practice sessions and match play under the guidance of certified instructors and the watchful eye of our Club Coach. Participants should really want to improve their tennis skills to get full value from this program. Beginners are also welcome but they must have some basic training first (i.e. taken the Spring Beginner Lessons).
(Please refer to the Junior Newsletter and schedule for actual dates and time).
Advanced ATAK
The Advance ATAK program is the next step after ATAK. It features higher intensity training through most of the summer months for players who play on the OTA Circuit, or who wish to break into it. The Club has had several Canadian and Ontario top ranked players with several big tournament wins accredited to them go through this program. Run by certified instructors, under the watchful eye of our Head Coach, this is a grueling training program for the serious players only.
(Admission to this program is by HEAD COACH INVITATION ONLY).
RAP (Recognition Award Program)
As part of the Agincourt Tennis Academy for Kids program, the Recognition Award Program represents achievement levels reached by each player during their participation in ATAK. At the completion of the ATAK program, each participant will be awarded one of seven coloured achievement awards, each signifying a skill level reached by that individual. These levels range from “White”, a beginner level achievement, to “Red”, a tournament level achievement (for all seven colours/levels and their associated skill requirements, please view the “ATAK - RAP Chart” in the Handout section).
Agincourt juniors (and their parents) will now have a means to measure his/her progress each year. Each colour award obtained signifies a “Competitive Skill Standard” that each player has achieved through the ATAK program. This will allow them to know where they would fit in on future tournaments, future programs and club team play. For instance, if a player has a goal of playing for the Agincourt’s STF Junior Team, they now know that they should have/need the skills to merit a “Purple” or “Green” level.
This Recognition Award Program will allow us, and our juniors to gauge their ability/playability level and hopefully spur them on to strive for better tennis skills and match play.
A record of all juniors and their achievement levels will be kept to assist the club in its many programs that require a certain skill prerequisite. Junior Davis Cup, Club Tournaments and other competitive programs that depend on a handicap system will be better and more fun for all.
(Please note that the colour of award does not necessarily signify who is a better player, just a skill level that has been achieved. Skill, focus, determination, practice and a strong competitor desire are the makings of a great tennis player.)
OTA Fun Fair
Around mid summer just before the Canadian Open Tennis Championship in Toronto, the Agincourt Tennis Club invites the OTA (Ontario Tennis Association) to come to our courts to run a Tennis Fun Fair. Juniors here will participate in some tennis drills, fun & games to win prizes and test their serving skills. There is usually a nominal fee charged by the OTA (around $8), but you get some great stuff, an OTA T-shirt and a couple of Toronto Canadian Open Tennis Master Series tickets to name a few. This event is open to members and non-members alike and has in the past been a fun time for all those who participated.
Actual date and time of this Fun Fair event may be posted in the "News" section. Please check back often so as not to miss out on this fun event.
(Please refer to the Junior Newsletter and schedule for actual dates and time).
Summer Sizzles
The Summer Sizzle program is a drop in tennis camp for those members who want to have some tennis fun playing casual tennis related games in a group environment. Under the supervision of an experience club member and older junior volunteers, participants will partake in some tennis hitting drills, single and double round robin matches and a whole lot of tennis fun and games (good clean exercise in the great outdoors). This program runs every Tuesday and Thursday throughout most of the summer months of July and August. A nominal fee is charged for this program.
(Please refer to the Junior Newsletter and schedule for actual dates and time.)
Junior Tournament
Our Junior Tournament follows the ATAK program as the final major program for the year. All skill levels from beginner to OTA Tournament player can compete and have fun in this contest. The tournament features three (A, B and C) levels of play so everyone can participate and win. Trophies and prizes are awarded to all champions and runner-ups in both the main and consolation draws.
This tournament is free of charge and is open to all REGISTERED JUNIOR MEMBERS of the club ONLY.
(Please check the Junior newsletter and schedule in the "Handout" section for the actual date and time for this fun event).
End of Year Bash
When the season comes to a close, what better way to end it off but with an End of Season Bash. Good friends, good food, lots of drinks, fun & games and plenty of prizes one last time (the centre attraction of all our junior social events). This final celebration is open to all Junior members where we bid adieu to another great tennis season.
(Please refer to the ATC Newsletter for actual date and time for this fun event).
Junior/Adult Challenge
A celebration for special junior and adult members of the year.
This is a fun event where juniors are teamed up with an adult member to play doubles matches in a non-competitive fun tournament style atmosphere. The teams are arranged so that the stronger adult player partners with a less experienced junior and vise-versa. Along with some special rules to level out the playing field, any team can win. With food and beverages provided, this day event has proven to be a fun time for all participating special members.
This event is BY INVITATION ONLY.
